JOHN ROSS
PRINCIPAL

Lead author of Public Relations and the Presidency: Strategies and Tactics for Effective Communication, (CASE 2001), John Ross applies more than 30 years of first-hand experience as a senior public relations practitioner and consultant to meeting communications needs of colleges and universities. His specialties are analysis of client communications, development and implementation of strategic communications plans including national media relations campaigns, staff development, assessment of program effectiveness, presidential transition, and use of research in media relations and marketing communications.

He served as a senior media relations/public relations officer at Tusculum, Plymouth State, Dickinson, University of Miami, and University of Cincinnati before joining the late Carol Halstead as vice president/senior consultant at College Connections/Halstead Communications. Winner of a gold medal for news and information from CASE, a former vice president of the national Education Writers Association, and a frequent speaker at professional conferences, his articles appear in Trusteeship, CASE Currents, and The Chronicle of Higher Education.
