PHILIP BENOIT
SENIOR CONSULTANT, STRATEGIC MEDIA RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATION
Assoc. VP for Communicatoions
at Franklin & Marshall, Phil Benoit often speaks about
national media relations, communications planning, and admissions
marketing at professional conferences including the annual
symposium: “How Colleges Can Obtain National Publicity.”
Based on more than 25 years of college public relations, teaching,
and agency experience, he has co-authored several books including
Do Your Own Public Relations and Positive Public Relations.
His op ed pieces have appeared in The New York Times, The
Chronicle of Higher Education, and several other newspapers.
He is chair of the board for The Center for Media in the Public
Interest, a media think tank, and he is the recipient of a
CASE gold medal for excellence in admissions publications.
He previously held
the posts of director of public affairs at Middlebury College,
director of communications at Dickinson College in Carlisle,
Pennsylvania and director of public relations at Hartwick
College in Oneonta, N.Y., and served for nine years as a faculty
member in the communication studies department at the State
University of New York at Oswego, New York, where he directed
the broadcast education curriculum.
